Awesome student response of the day

My students are pretty creative sometimes.

I was teaching a Language and Culture course recently. After going over the chapter on Nonverbal Communication, I gave my students several questions as homework. One of them was to interpret several situations according to their culture. The question was, “How would you interpret a young man dressing entirely in black?”

My awesome student’s response?

“Maybe he wants to become the bat man.”

Here’s Engrish for you… I used to incorporate pronunciation into quizzes by saying the vocabulary words aloud and having my students write the definitions. I told them that as long as I could tell they knew the meaning of the word, I would give them the point. Students would get really creative on definitions sometimes. The funniest definition I got was based on a basic mispronunciation. The word was “restroom.” One of my students wrote, “This is where you go to get something to eat.”

By the way, I thought your posting was hilarious!!! I couldn’t stop laughing all day! Yes, literally. My husband would ask me why I would randomly start laughing. And all I could say was… “the bat man!” :-)
